Mel Robbin - March 21, Auckland New Zealand. Night 2 of the Let Them 2026 Tour

Last night, I had the privilege of attending Mel Robbins’ talk in Auckland, part of her LET THEM 2026 tour. Mel Robbins is a leading figure in the world of female coaches and podcasters, known for her raw honesty and powerful messages about mindset and personal growth. As I listened, I found myself reflecting deeply on what makes her so successful and how her journey relates to my own. Could I be as successful as Mel Robbins? The answer is a resounding yes, and she would be the first to celebrate that success with me.

Mel’s story is not one of overnight luck or easy wins. It’s a story of grit, resilience, and authenticity. She has faced financial struggles, battled long-term depression, and overcome personal lows that many of us can only imagine. Yet, she stands today as a beacon of hope and encouragement, reminding us all that success is possible if we commit to showing up for ourselves every day.

As she walked amongt the audience hugging people she connected with everyone, Mel is not a star who stays on the stage, distancing herself from the audience, she got down and close with her audience. She role modelled authentic connection and the audience loved her.

What Mel Robbins and I Have in Common

At first glance, Mel and I share many similarities. We are the same age, both married, and each of us has three children. We speak passionately about mindset and empowering others to reach their potential.

But our differences are just as striking. I have never experienced the depths of struggle that Mel has endured. I have not faced the financial hardships or the emotional battles that she openly shared. Yet, Mel’s message is clear: you don’t have to walk the same path to achieve your own success. You only need to be willing to be yourself and to keep moving forward.

Mel and I both ascribe to the same passion of helping women to Flourish and Prosper.

The Power of Authenticity

One of the most powerful lessons Mel shared is the importance of being you and focusing on yourself, it's the "LET ME" part of her message. She encourages people not to focus on what other people are doing, thinking or saying. This is a waste of our precious energy. Instead, focus on what you are doing, thinking and saying, save all your precious energy for using it on yourself - not on THEM.

The Role of Grit in Achieving Success

Mel attributes her achievements to grit, the determination to get out of bed even when you don’t feel like it. This daily commitment to action, no matter how small, is what propels people closer to their goals. She even rolled a bed out onto the stage to show us how her thinking was, in bed, when she struggled at her lowest point. She gave us the darkest and ugliest place she had been to so we can contrast it with where she is today.

She shared a simple but powerful challenge: look at what she has achieved in three years and ask yourself what you want to achieve in the same time frame. This question is a reminder that success is not about instant results but about consistent effort. Mel was clear, it's all about the action you take NOT the thinking that you do. Thinking that doesn't make it into action, is not helpful. Even small steps of action forwards are wins.

Overcoming Fear of Sharing Your Story

Mel’s journey also highlights the importance of sharing your story and your action on social media. She admitted that for years her posts received no likes, comments, or engagement. Yet, she kept posting because she understood that visibility was the key to building a connection with others. Her posts changed from this is me and my dog and me and my kids to 'this is what I'm doing and what I can do for you'. She moved her socials to focus on her contribution and she challenged us to see that she had come from a place where no one followed or liked her posts.

This is a crucial takeaway for anyone looking to grow their influence online.

Celebrating Small Wins

Another lesson from Mel’s talk was the value of celebrating progress, no matter how small. Success is not just about the big milestones but about recognising the daily steps that bring you closer to your goals. Even if it's going for a walk to make a new friend in a town you've just moved to. (YES! her words) It's so hard to believe that this worldwide successful woman was struggling to make a single friend in the last 5 years of her life. Everyone wants to be her friend now!

What Mel Robbins’ Success Teaches Us

Mel Robbins’ story teaches us several practical lessons:

  • Be authentic: You are enough, just be the best version of you

  • Show up daily: Success comes from consistent effort, not luck.

  • Share your journey: Visibility builds connection and opportunity.

  • Celebrate progress: Recognise small wins to stay motivated.

  • Support others: Success grows when we lift each other up.

These lessons are not just inspirational and they aren't just what her saying 'this is my story' they are actionable steps anyone can take to unlock their potential.

Moving Forward with Confidence

After hearing Mel Robbins speak, I felt inspired, grateful, and encouraged. Her success is well-earned, and her message is one of hope and empowerment. She reminds us that no matter where we start, we can rise from our challenges and create a life of purpose and achievement. Through out action!

If you are wondering whether you can reach the level of success you admire in others, remember Mel’s message: “Of course you can. But don’t be me-be you.”

Your journey is unique, and your potential is limitless when you commit to being authentic and persistent.
